Dubai has adapted to accommodate the large expat community and tourism industry and one will find that most everything is in English around town. However as with any international assignment, learning the language can help one cope and settle into their new surroundings and experience pieces of the local culture one could not without the language. Half a billion people speak Arabic worldwide allowing one to use this language even after their assignment is over. If you are interested in learning at least the basics there are numerous courses available of differing lengths and tailored to suit various needs.
