With the weather hotting up, it’s not unusual for people to race home and leap straight into their pool to cool off. Of late the team at Expat Echo Dubai has been known to do just that, however instead of a casual dip we got to thinking about how much it costs to maintain a home pool in Dubai. After all, pools are not nearly as common in some of our home countries as they are here and if you were new to Dubai or thinking of relocating you would no doubt want to know how much a pool (blessing though it is) will cost you to clean and service – especially if you’ve never had one before.
With ideal swimming conditions for much of the year home pools are dotted all over Dubai, particularly in those residential areas famed amongst the expat community. So, what will it cost to maintain your home pool in Dubai? We examined our bank records, asked friends to scrounge around for their old receipts and even polled fans on our Facebook page to bring you the answer. Thankfully prices seem quite reasonable (sigh of relief) with costs averaging 400AED per month which usually includes two visits each week.
Obviously prices may vary depending on your location, the type of pool, whether it is chlorinated or not and if it is a wee splash pool or an Olympic sized pool but the consensus is that AED 650 – 800 is safe bet for budgeting purposes. Aside from cleaning, your pool will also need the water to be changed or topped up and chemical levels balanced on a regular basis. Most pool maintenance companies will also be able to perform repairs of things such as broken lights and filters.
If installing a pool, you may be able to benefit from a builder who has the means of not only building, but maintaining it too and many offer discounted rates for the annual service of their pools!
Prices may also vary slightly depending on who you choose to provide the service so it may be worth shopping around. To take the sting out of the process here are some of the companies that offer home pool maintenance services in Dubai: Pool Maintenance Companies Directory.
